Overview - Alnico Shallow Pot Magnets

Alnico shallow pot magnets

Alnico shallow pot magnets (with countersunk hole, ideal for screw mounting)  are high-performance permanent magnetic assemblies consisting of an Alnico magnet core housed within a mild steel pot. This construction concentrates the magnetic field onto a single working surface, delivering strong, focused holding force while also protecting the magnet from mechanical damage.

The steel pot enhances magnetic efficiency by directing the magnetic flux towards the contact face, providing greater holding power than an equivalent loose magnet. Alnico pot magnets are particularly valued for their excellent temperature stability and long-term magnetic performance, making them well suited to demanding industrial, engineering, and workshop environments.

Alnico magnets offer exceptional resistance to demagnetisation and maintain stable magnetic properties at high operating temperatures, where many other permanent magnet materials may lose strength. This makes Alnico pot magnets ideal for applications involving heat, vibration, or continuous use.

Many Alnico pot magnets feature internal threaded mounting holes, allowing them to be securely bolted to fixtures, tooling plates, machinery, panels, or frames. This enables their use as reliable magnetic mountings for clamping, fixturing, positioning, and holding tasks.

Typical Applications

Alnico pot magnets are commonly used in applications requiring secure magnetic holding on ferrous (mild steel) surfaces, including:

  • Clamping and workholding

  • Jigs, fixtures, and tooling

  • Part positioning and alignment

  • Assembly and fabrication setups

  • High-temperature environments such as welding or soldering fixtures ( Suitable for temperatures up to 450˚C )

They are suitable for use on steel plates, machinery, frames, and other magnetically receptive surfaces.

Why Choose Alnico Pot Magnets

Alnico pot magnets combine focused holding force, mechanical protection, and high-temperature capability in a compact assembly. The mild steel casing improves durability and magnetic efficiency, while the Alnico core provides reliable performance in conditions where stability and heat resistance are critical.
