Ionbond UK Ltd Reduce Fluid Usage by Installing Filtramag+

Ionbond UK Ltd is the latest company to benefit from installing magnetic filters on their automated pre-coating cleaning line. A division of the Ionbond IHI Group, Ionbond UK Ltd, is the UK’s leading PVD coating service provider for precision tools. Operational 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, the site applies coatings to over 150,000 precision tools each month.

As a continuous improvement measure and a positive step to sustainability achieving ISO 14001, Ionbond recently installed 3 x Filtramag+ magnetic filters to remove fine particle contamination from their wash solutions.

The 3-tank wash stages process uses almost 600 litres of wash solutions, which, due to fine particle contamination, required a full fluid change every month. This results in 8 hours of process downtime, fluid replacement and disposal costs.

After 2 months in operation, the Filtramag+ units have so far increased fluid life by 25% and reduced the associated downtime and disposal costs by the same amount.
