Supporting Global Lifting Awareness Day: Give Your Company a Lift
Eclipse Magnetics is delighted to be supporting the 5th Global Lifting Awareness Day, which takes place on Thursday 18th July 2024. GLAD 2024 is an initiative promoted by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), which promotes safe, high-quality lifting in the workplace. This year’s campaign highlights products, training, and inspection as three key pillars of efficient lifting.
To support the campaign, the LEEA is actively encouraging businesses and individuals to post and share social media activity, videos, and articles under the banner of #GLAD2024. This Global Lifting Awareness Day, we want to share with you the products and services we have to not only support safe lifting, but prolong the life of lifters and ensure their effectiveness.
A range of safe & efficient lifting options
Eclipse Magnetics has been at the forefront of steel lifting for many years, and we fully support the GLAD2024 initiative. Our full-service package of products, training, and inspection mirrors the criteria GLAD2024 promotes.
All our products and services have been carefully designed to comply with relevant legislation and guidance, such as the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER), the Provision and Use of Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, and Health & Safety Executive Guidance (HSE).
Our product range includes a variety of magnetic lifting and handling systems, all designed to improve lifting efficiency and enhance workplace safety. The range includes manually activated magnetic lifters and electronically and pneumatically switchable lifting magnets, each based on fail-safe magnetic technology. All the products are supplied with a wealth of technical and safety information to guide the user to the right choice of product.
The Ultralift range of permanent magnetic lifters offers a range of advantages in comparison to more traditional lifting methods such as ropes, slings, and chains. All Ultralift products are supplied with a range of integral safety mechanisms. Most of our equipment has a 3:1 safety factor as a result of permanent magnetic technology and built in fail-safe mechanisms. Safe lifting is incredibly important and shouldn’t be overlooked – our magnetic lifters offer a safer alternative to traditional slings and grabs. The Ultralift Plus is our premier lifter and comes with several safety features, including a safety shim with a 3:1 guaranteed safety factor, a safety button and lifting eye sensor. Operational and safety training
Employee training is a key theme of GLAD 2024 and a stipulation of relevant legislation. To support our product range, Eclipse Magnetics offers on-site training packages to ensure operatives are fully competent in the functional and safety aspects of the products.
The training courses meet legislative requirements by covering topics such as potential hazards, load configuration implications, working load limits and care, maintenance, and identifying defects.
The training can be carried out at the customer’s premises in group or individual sessions. The sessions are designed to provide the user with a detailed knowledge of the following:
- How magnetic lifters work
- How to use best practices
- Factors affecting the load or lift: surface finish, material type, load size or thickness, contact area
- Typical do’s and don’ts
- Best practices in service and maintenance
Martyn Cotterill, General Sales Manager at Eclipse Magnetics, comments, “GLAD2024 is a tremendous initiative to promote efficiency and safety. At Eclipse Magnetics, we pride ourselves on being more than just a product supplier. We also support our customers through the product life cycle with a variety of service and training initiatives. Magnetic lifters are safety-critical equipment, and it’s vital that they are expertly maintained. We’ve also made it easy for the user to access the correct training and vital product support information.”

Expert service, inspection and repair
Along with manufacturing and training on magnetic lifters, Eclipse Magnetics also offer servicing of magnetic lifters to comply with regulations, ensure safety and prolong lifter lifetime. Our servicing is safe contractor approved!
Not only is servicing your equipment important for preserving safety and extending the lifespan of your lifters, it is also a requirement as listed in the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998. Annual maintenance on magnetic lifters is essential, which is something we take incredibly seriously. We have a responsibility to prioritise health & safety wherever possible, so our servicing package is great to not only help you comply with PUWER but ensure that your workers are operating safe equipment. Our servicing comes with detailed inspection, functional testing, component replacement, calibration & adjustment and documentation & certification!
Magnetic lifters need to be serviced at least every 6 – 12 months to ensure their safety, but regular maintenance also helps prolong life and efficiency of magnetic lifters too, helping you get a higher return on your investment.
