Employee Spotlight: Wendy Carder
At Eclipse Magnetics, our employees are at the centre of our business, and we want to shine a spotlight on the individuals who make our workplace a thriving and dynamic community.
This month, we caught up with Accounts Assistant, Wendy Carder, to find out more about her life both inside and outside of work.
When did you join Eclipse Magnetics?
I joined Eclipse Magnetics back in August 2009 after relocating to Sheffield from Warwickshire.
What did you do before Eclipse Magnetics?
I worked in an accounts department for a local plumbing company. It was a small company with only 3 branches, and I was responsible for looking after both the credit control side and the purchase ledger side of accounts.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I can safely say that I love my job! I can assist in various departments in different ways. Predominantly I am a Finance Assistant, not only dealing with purchase ledger, but I have also been learning about the financial background within the company and am able to report on some aspects of stock and indirect hours for the warehouse. I am working towards my Management Accountancy degree. I also help with Credit Control, chasing overdue debts or sorting out problems.
Tell us about your life outside of work
I love being with my dog, walking in the outdoors. One of my favourite things to do is cross stitching, creating masterpieces out of nothing!
Tell us a surprising fact about yourself
I have been on TV and have sung on stage in front of over 2000 people.
What is your biggest career highlight so far?
Being able to study my AAT levels 2, 3 and 4 whilst working, and being able to put my knowledge into practice. I am now studying for my CIMA qualification, which is a long process but having an employer who supports you is the best feeling.
