AutoFiltrex Magnetic Filter
Automated magnetic filtration system for off-line operation
Magnetic filtration or separation is a rapid payback investment which offers a wealth of benefits to your process.
Magnetic filters remove almost 100% of ferrous particles and even remove particles smaller than 1 micron. Traditional barrier or media filters typically allow smaller particles to circulate, which affects the fluid effectiveness and means regular expensive fluid changes. Dirty fluids can also act as a breeding ground for bacteria, which degrades the fluid and puts operatives at risk of exposure.
Magnetic filters can either replace or be used in conjunction with media filters. Either way, its high-performance extraction significantly reduces the consumption of disposable filter media such as paper, bands, cartridges, and socks.
A significant amount of fluid is lost during the disposal of traditional media filters. With magnetic filters, however contamination is removed from the filter as a semi-dry cake, meaning that virtually all the residue fluid can be recovered.
The ferrous waste collected by the magnetic filter can be recycled, thereby eliminating expensive specialist disposal service costs.
Manually cleaned magnetic filters require no additional power or consumable parts in their day-to-day operation. Automated cleaning versions require small amounts of power but no other consumable parts.
Automated magnetic filters are perfect for large volume continuous processes. Once set up, they can run unmanned and without any need for stoppages or downtime.
Other media-based fine particle filtration can strip fluids of anti-foaming and anti-bacterial properties. Magnetic filters, on the other hand, enable sub-micron performance without affecting the properties, thereby reducing replacement cycle times.
Magnetic filtration can be a driving force in cost reduction or continuous improvement programmes. They offer distinct cost saving benefits resulting in a rapid return on investment, often within weeks.
Magnetic filters make a positive contribution to the environment by reducing the usage of disposable filters such as paper or cartridges. By ensuring industrial fluids such as coolants, oils and wash solutions are clean, their usage is minimized and disposal vastly reduced.
Magnetic filters enable ferrous particles to be separated from the fluid, and the filtration media and can be recycled. This is impossible with media filters because contamination sticks to the filter media and has to be disposed of as a sludge or mud, often with a hazardous classification.
A major consideration for any business is its responsibility to the environment. Magnetic filtration is a positive contribution to companies’ environmental policies and ISO14001 certification. Magnetic filters make a major contribution to promoting safe handling of metalworking fluids. Cleaner fluids reduce the risk of human contact with metal fines thereby reducing the risk of cuts, abrasions and dermatitis.
Magnetic filters do not strip anti-bacterial properties from fluids, thereby reducing the risk of bacterial development. Ferrous contamination in fluids can act as a breeding ground for bacteria, therefore maintaining clean, polished fluids considerably reduces the risk of human contact with such bacteria.
Our automated filtration systems remove the need for operators to come into contact with contaminated fluids.
